Another Round of CHOICES at Kent

A student learns how to build a canoe in CHOICES.

Teachers have chosen areas of their passion and/or areas in which they feel kids would love to learn.  Students have made their selections.  Another round of our highly successful CHOICES program has begun!

Part of our school vision is for us to recognize students’ strengths and interests; this term, we are offering the following activities for our students on Wednesday afternoons:

PRIMARY CHOICES

  • Art Like The Masters
  • Sculpting With Stone
  • Puzzle Mania
  • Lego Architecture
  • Ball Hockey
  • Canoe Building
  • Just Dance!
  • Winter Art
  • Knitting
  • Sign Language
  • Drama and Plays

INTERMEDIATE CHOICES:

  • Basketball Skills and Drills
  • Origami
  • Drama
  • Website Design
  • 2-Way Radio Communication
  • Just Dance!
  • Canoe Building
  • Lego Design
  • Film Studies (Developing Film Critics)

Thank you to all our hard-working staff for continuing to make CHOICES such a great experience for our students.

  1. Hi Chris,

I love this idea…our son is in middle school here in Sooke and they offer a similar program called Exploratories and he loves it. What a great way for students to spend a couple of blocks, or an afternoon in your school’s case, engaging in what they enjoy…a great way to move the conversation forward, I think around the topic of personalized learning. Great work. This is something I would like to explore for my school in the future. May I e-mail you at a later date with some questions and ideas?

    Take Care,

    Sue Tonnesen
