We are nearing the end of October and would like to send out some reminders for the next few weeks.
Picture Retakes
Picture retakes are tomorrow (Tuesday, October 21). Any student that was absent for photos in September will automatically get their photos taken. If you pre-registered for photo re-takes, the photographer will have that information. If you are requesting a photo retake and did not pre-register, please send an email to kes.office@sd78.bc.ca and we will make sure your student is added to the list.
End of Soccer Season
A big thank you to Mr Smith and Ms Dodd for organizing and coaching our kids throughout the soccer season this Fall. We had a slightly different format with multiple tournaments and some extra games. In the end, both teams had a lot of success and more importantly a lot of fun on the pitch!
Fieldtrips
You may have noticed that there have been several fieldtrips planned for October and early November. We have been getting lots of requests for parent volunteers on these trips (especially the younger classes). This is just a reminder that parents attending these trips require a criminal record check. The criminal record check system is now online. Here is some information on how to start this process.
Here is the link to start your criminal record check application. Email kes.office@sd78.bc.ca for the password to get started. Most of the information is already added on the Organization Information tab. Just add Volunteer in the Job Title box. On the next page you will be asked to log in with your BC Service Card or some other form of ID. From what I’ve heard it’s a much quicker process than applying at the police station (old method).
Halloween Dance
The PAC Halloween Dance takes place on Wednesday, October 29 from 6:30 – 8:00. This is a family event and students attending need to be accompanied by an adult family member. I will send out a reminder about the dance early next week. This event has been a great hit for the past several years thanks in part to the enthusiastic parent volunteers that organize the dance.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Please mark November 5 on your calendars. This is the day for our parent teacher interviews. Teachers will be available from 5:00-8:00. Another email will be sent home next week with more details about the evening. If this date does not work for you, a quick email to your child’s teacher is the best way to set up a meeting on an alternative day. Teacher email addresses are located on the school website under the About Us link.
