Parent Update (Sept 14)

I would like to share an update regarding staffing at Kent Elementary.

We are pleased to announce that Miss Gouwenberg has accepted a continuing position at our school. Beginning Wednesday, September 17, she will be moving to the Grade 3 class. A posting for the Grade 1 class will be sent out this week. In the meantime, Mr. Chadhuary will be teaching the Grade 1 class until a permanent teacher is hired. Mr. Chadhuary was our early literacy teacher last year and worked with our primary students.  He is excited to step into this role for the time being.

Monday will also be Ms. Kaur’s first day in the Grade 5/6 class. We are grateful to have had Mr. Chadhuary with this class at the start of the year, as his familiarity with our students has made a positive difference.

Finally, we are happy to welcome Mrs. Mattson to our staff as an Education Assistant beginning tomorrow. We are also in the process of hiring another EA, and an update will be shared once this has been finalized.

A couple of quick reminders.

1) Picture day is on Friday, September 19.  Instructions were sent home with students last week.  I’ll email a poster home tomorrow with instructions on how you can receive the gallery of photos via email.  

2) Mr Smith is putting an athletic order in on Monday.  Please make sure that your students have brought in their order forms.
